Chicago Artist and Gallery Owner Dan Addington Exhibits Work in Draewell Gallery

Posted 11.09.2013 by Jeff Carl

Chicago artist and gallery owner Dan Addington visited the campus on November 8th as part of the SoADA lecture and exhibition series. Addington’s exhibition “The Care of Memory” was on display in the Dreawell Gallery of Art from October 9th through November 8th. This series of paintings included images derived from a combination of anatomical imagery, romantic symbolism, and religious iconography. The works were created using a variety of materials (such as wax and tar) that emphasize the paintings as visceral objects with an evocative physical presence. During the lecture Addington discussed his work, his development as an artist since his college years, and his role as gallery director of the Addington Gallery in Chicago’s River North gallery district.
